2022 Italian Baja: Benediktas Vanagas and K.Sikkas will race the Italian Baja for the 1st time togheter

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Baltics team will be competing in the Italian Baja stage of the Baja World Cup, next weekend in Pordenon, Northern Italy. This will also be the first official European Cup race for the new team of Benediktas Vanagas and Kuldaras Sikkas.
In 2022, the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Baltics plans to race three European Cup Baja rounds, starting in Italy, followed by Hungary and finaly in Poland. The team's initial plans also included races in Spain and Greece, but a logistical crisis delayed the arrival of the necessary parts for the car.

"The main goal of the summer season is not only to fight for the top positions both in the European Cup and in every round, but also to get to grips with the new co-driver. We need to get the maximum amount of kilometres together before Dakar so that the crew is ready," said Vanagas before of the start in Italy.

The Italian Baja will not be a new event for the team, as it will be the fourth time that Vanag will be competing in the event. Last autumn, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Baltics defeated former WRC driver Xavier Pons in the final stages and climbed onto the third step of the podium. The team achieved the same result at the Baja Poland round in Poland.
