2022 Italian Baja: Quadruple coefficient for the Italian Championship participants

After Artugna, Adriatico and Greece, leading the Cross Country Baja standings is Alfano from Varese (Nissan), among SSVs, Ventura from Turin commands

Fourth of the six events of the 2022 tricolor, the Italian Baja from July 7 to 10 boasts the maximum coefficient (4) and therefore quadruples the race scores. Just so you understand: the overall victory (30), perhaps combined with first place in both stages (5 + 5), means a total of 160 points capable of getting the Scudetto ambitions off the ground. A boon for those who can score, capitalizing on the trip to Pordenone characterized by a tough and selective course on the Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento riverbeds.

Yep, the rivers. This year the Fuoristrada Club 4x4 Pordenone has worked to keep the track as far away from the waterways as possible, since fords often pose problems for the less performing and agile vehicles. But of water, at the moment, there just isn't any, with the drought raging across the country. Of course you can joke a little bit, although the situation is really serious, because "historically" the Italian Baja has often had to deal with sudden floods on the route so much so that changes had to be made in extremis.

Be that as it may, the Aci Sport tricolor is preparing for the race with these (unofficial) ranking situations. In the Italian Cross Country Baja, after Artugna, Adriatico and Greece, Andrea Alfano from Varese (Nissan Pathfinder) is leading with 190 points, ahead of Alessandro Trivini Bellini from Mantova (Mitsubishi Pajero) at 173 while third is Mauro Cantarello from Rovigo (Suzuki Grand Vitara) at 166, the current leader of the Suzuki Challenge, which is always a resource of participations in the national challenge.

This year's Italian SSV is basically a duel between Turin-based Amerigo Ventura and Valentino Rocco (both on Quaddy Yamaha Yxz1000R), first with 260 points and second at 203, respectively.
