Andalucia Rally 2020: Busy schedule for Van Loon

The Vechtdal Rally and the Gamma Racing Day are on the program of Erik van Loon in the next two weeks. Van Loon will participate together with Harmen Scholtalbers in the Ford Fiesta R5 by Van den Heuvel Motorsport in the Vechtdal Rally. During the Gamma Racing Day there are demonstrations by Van Loon with the Ferrari F93A and Arrows F1. Van Loon will participate the Andalucia Rally with the Toyota Hilux at the beginning of October.

“There will be two busy weekends,” says Van Loon. “In the last period I have been racing on the circuit with the Renault, together with Mike and Harrie. But it feels good to go back to rallying. Jasper van den Heuvel offered me the opportunity to drive the Fiesta R5, so we will do that in this rally. We are also going to enjoy it, looking to the competition it won’t be easy to drive for the win in a car I don’t know.”

On the TT Circuit in Assen one week later, the Gamma Racing Day takes place. On 26 and 27 September there will be races in several classes and demonstrations. “I have been a few times to this event, and it is very nice. I will give some demos with the ex-Jean Alesi Ferrari F1 from 1993 and the ex-Jos Verstappen Arrows F1 from 2000. It will be my first time to drive the Arrows on the track. I am looking forward to it!”

The Andalucia Rally will take place from 6 to 10 October. It is a new cross-country rally which replaces the Rallye du Maroc on the calendar. “Morocco forbid the rally a while ago, so the organisation tried very hard to look for an alternative which was the begin of the Andalucia Rally. This is a five-day event in Spain, between Zaragoza and Malaga. It appears that the Dakar-top will be at the start, so I am looking forward to it.”

The Vechtdal Rally will be on 19 September and starts at 13:00, after six stages the rally will finish at 17:50. The rally can be followed via https://www.vechtdalrally.nl/, it will be a rally without public. The Gamma Racing Day is on 26 and 27 September, tickets are already sold out.
