Reiterates the triumph achieved in the Baja Dehesa Extremadura
Willy Villanueva gets the first position and Christine Giampaoli and Rosa Romero the third in the T1N category
Avatel Racing Team has made a double in this Baja Aragón Trofeo Avatel achieving the first and third position in the T1N category, where Willy Villanueva and Borja Aguado have conquered the top of the podium and Christine Giampaoli and Rosa Romero have achieved the third position.
The team of the telecommunications company has thus reedited in Teruel the victory achieved in the Baja Dehesa Extremadura, where they also won first and third place. Therefore, two out of two for Avatel in the Spanish Rally-Raid Championship, a competitions of which it has become the main sponsor, as well as of Baja Aragón, which is also the Spanish round in FIA World Cup.
"We are very satisfied with the results obtained, the team has thrown itself into this competition. We want to thank the work of the organization and especially the fans, who despite the very high temperatures have been on the roads", said the representative of Avatel.
Willy Villanueva, who was accompanied by Borja Aguado as co-driver, highlighted the toughness of the event, with a second day with more than three hours of driving under extremely high temperatures.
"We are very happy. Winning is always complicated, there are many participants and very fast. We have a competitive car and we are winning, let's hope to continue this streak."
For her part, Christine Giampaoli stressed that
"being able to get a podium is a great result, although we all want to win. The competition has been very tough, especially on the second day, and I think we have done a good job getting the car to the finish line".
His co-driver, Rosa Romero, said that in this race
"I have enjoyed a lot, the balance has been very positive, it was a physically demanding course and the second day was very easy to break, so our strategy was to lift the gas a little in the most broken areas".
Mónica Plaza, in continuous evolution
The pilot Mónica Plaza and her co-driver David Nadal were just off the podium in the T2 category with a fourth place. A good result in Plaza's second race as a driver.
"We are very happy, we are getting more and more rhythm and we understand each other better. The goal was to finish, gain experience and evolve. We have been improving our rhythm and we are very satisfied".
For his part Nadal has underlined the good understanding within the cabin and on the route both have agreed that "a Baja has to be hard" and that they have enjoyed doing it.
Finally, Pablo Cantó and his co-driver Ariel Jaton, have achieved fifth place in the T1N category.
"Saturday was one of the days I enjoyed the most at the wheel, the Baja Aragón is an experience that you have to live", said the pilot.
In addition, the Avatel bivouac at the Baja Aragón has been a meeting point for the members of the assistance park, bringing together drivers, co-drivers, authorities and press.
"Avatel is closeness and overcoming and these values identify us with the rally", said Avatel's representative.
Baja Aragón Trofeo Avatel has a very technical route, with continuous and abrupt changes of pace, mousy and very diverse, with rocky areas, fords with water and roads. A race in which the participants also had to face the highest temperatures of the year.
Saturday's stage had two sections, an initial one of 151 km and a second and decisive one of 212 km. In total, adding the kilometers completed on Friday, the total of 580 kilometers between time trials and liaison stages.
The Baja España Aragón Trofeo Avatel is a competition of the Spanish Cup of Off-Road Rallies and the only Spanish event scoring for the FIA World Cup of Low Cross Country. It has been a race that has exceeded all expectations, with more than 200 entries and an important female presence among drivers and co-drivers.
As for the electric car, the Avatel EcoPower was on display at the Avatel bivouac after testing it in Massia Pelarda. A prototype that shows the way and that is being used to design an electric competition category together with the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation.
