Baja Aragon 2021: More than 60 motorcycles and quads already listed to Race Baja Aragon

 With just four days to go until the final list of entries for the Baja España Aragón is closed, more than 60 motorcycles and quads will take part in the next edition that will start next July 22nd in Teruel. Of those 60, 21 will take part in the FIM World Cup, while 39 will do it in the Open 30 category. 
 
In the motorcycle category, the Spanish armada will be led by Joan Barreda (four-time winner of the Baja), Joan Pedrero, and Lorenzo Santolino. Portuguese rider Rui Gonçalves will also be present.  
 
In the case of Barreda, the rider from Castellón is one of the veterans of the discipline and will take part in his eleventh Dakar Rally in January. Ridding the Honda, Barreda is a strong candidate for the victory that will allow him to regain the scepter of champion of the Baja España Aragón lost in 2018. 

PEDRERO, FACING HIS CHANCE 

Winning the Baja España Aragón is one of the pages that remain to be written for Joan Pedrero. Third in the 2019 edition, the veteran Catalan rider will seek this year to take the definitive step to win this event in which he has been opting for a victory that has eluded him for more than 11 years. 
 
Pedrero, one of the elite riders in the discipline, is another of Spain's trump cards to take the baton from Frenchman Michael Metge. As is Lorenzo Santolino. 
 
After his debut in the 2019 Dakar, the rider from Salamanca has started his preparation for the 2022 edition in which he seeks to put an end to the bad luck that has haunted him in the last two editions. If in 2019 it was a fall in the sixth stage, in 2020 it was another fall that caused him a dislocated elbow and a broken radius head. The Spanish rider wants to finish the Dakar and for this, he is preparing with events such as the Baja Aragon, in which he aspires to climb to the top step of the podium. 
 
In the women's category, the participation of Sara García, winner of the 2017 edition in Teruel, and Dutchwoman Mirjam Pol, an institution in her country and winner of a Dakar in the women's category, stand out. 

THE BATTLE IN QUADS 

In the quad category, the XXXVII Baja España Aragón will feature riders such as Frenchman Alexandre Giroud and Ibizan Toni Vingut, who, after making his debut in the Dakar Rally in 2020, returns to test himself in the Teruel sections to repeat his presence in the desert in 2022. 
 
This is a category in which Óscar Romero and Mario Gajón, with three victories each, lead the list of winners. The Zaragozan is once again betting on his home race, where he has not won since 2015. 
 
This Friday, July 16, the registration period closes and from that moment we will know the final list of riders who will participate in the Baja España Aragón.
