Baja Oeste de Portugal 2022: Portugal set to host the third round of FIM Bajas World Cup

After the opening two rounds in Jordan and Qatar, the FIM Bajas World Cup returns to Europe for this weekend’s Baja Oeste de Portugal. The town of Torres Vedras, located north of Lisbon, will be the nerve centre for the 378.50km race.
On Thursday evening and Friday morning, 47 motorcycles (nine FIM) and 27 quads (four FIM) will pass through administrative and technical checks inside the Expo Torres buildings before entering the adjacent Parc Fermé.

Konrad Dąbrowski won the recent Qatar International Baja and currently holds third position in the FIM Bajas World Cup standings. The young Pole will also be keen to win the Junior category, which he will have to defend against Teo Viñaras, who rides a quad.

In addition to Dąbrowski (Duust KTM) in the motorcycle category, we find Fabio Magalhães (Honda) and Daniel Jordão (Husqvarna) and Joanna Modrzewska (Husqvarna) and Mirjam Pol (Husqvarna) in the Women's category. Rui Ferreira (Honda), Bianchi Prata (Honda), Kurt Burroughs and Barry Howe (KTM) are entered in the Veteran class.

Four quads are also entered in the FIM section: Junior Viñaras, the Saudi duo of Hani Al-Noumesi and Abdulmajeed Al-Khulaifi and Czech female rider Nelly Caisova will all ride Yamahas.

On Friday, after the mandatory briefing at 13.00hrs, riders will tackle a 6.50km super special stage. This will decide the starting order for SS1 (145km), starting at 07.45hrs. on Saturday May 7th. After a short break, SS2 (74.40km) gets underway at 13.00hrs.

On Sunday, May 8th, riders tackle SS3 (155 km) for a total of approximately 378.50km of competition across the municipalities of Torres Vedras, Bombarral, Cadaval, Azambuja, Alenquer, Óbidos and Sobral de Monte Agraço.
