Baja Poland 2021: Team Consilcar debuts with mixed emotions  a Baja Poland

Clutch problems dictate abandonment
"Spectacular race and experience to repeat".

Team Consilcar started this weekend's Baja Poland, an event from the FIA Cross-Country Bajas World Cup calendar. An event where the team made its debut, setting a consistent pace in a context of total discovery, which gave this participation a real adventure.
An experience that Edgar Condenso and António Serrão started with a 9th place in the T1 category, 20th overall, in the 7.33-kilometer Prologue, disputed on Friday. "It was an atypical challenge. A course designed on a military base, extremely hard, with many gullies, slopes, a layout much more like a trial than a TT. Our concern was to take the car to the end, avoiding pitfalls", the pilot started by affirming.
Already for this Saturday, a double passage through a 184,05-kilometer track was reserved. In the morning section, Edgar Condenso and António Serrão started by establishing a regular pace at the wheel of their Ford Ranger, keeping in the race even after the clutch problems registered from the 70th kilometer on. However, and despite the resilient spirit of the duo, the abandonment would happen at the 148th kilometer of the first of today's two Selective Sectors.

"We did our best, but in fact, we couldn't continue," stressed the driver, at a time when the team is assessing the damage, in the hypothesis of a return tomorrow in Rally 2. "We'll see if it's possible, but right now we're out."

In this context, Edgar Condenso stresses his contentment with this participation:

"Despite the premature abandonment, a positive balance of this experience remains. The race is spectacular, with a very balanced course between fast and more winding areas, designed in forest terrain and with sandy soil. It was a pleasure to compete here and the idea is, if possible, to surely come back", adding: "You learn a lot from the discomfort of facing the unknown, and that's exactly what we did here, facing a range of world-renowned opponents. The unforeseen is always part of the sport, we know that perfectly well, but this presence was worth every kilometer."

In the same vein, Nuno Silva says:

"It was another challenge in our racing journey and a Baja for us and the whole structure to evolve. We thank once again the trust of all our partners, as well as the support of all our team, families, friends, and fans." Team Consilcar is back in action from October 1-3, with Baja TT Capital dos Vinhos de Portugal, the third round of the Portuguese TT Championship."
