Last round of the FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, there is a lot of expectations for the German driver and TV commentator Lina van de Mars, currently second in the general standing in the T4 category. On her side, Giulia Maroni, who will support Lina with her navigations skilled. The experience gained in the previous Bajas will be very precious and Lina, ambassador of Polaris Germany, is ready to tackle the race weekend with excitement.
“It’s a great satisfaction to arrive at the last round of the FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas second in the championship. This is my first time in Poland, but I’m excited and fully motivated to do well”, said Lina van de Mars, Motorsport Athlete, vry skilled in mechanic, but also moderator, musician, drummer, and TV presenter.
The second crew is another familiar face in the Xtremeplus family. Italian Enrico Gaspari, in fact, competed last year with the CST Polaris Xtremeplus colours on a Polaris machine. Baja Poland will be his first round this year after the car incident he suffered on the 2022 Dakar where he was competing as navigator. Enrico will team up with experienced Loic Minaudier. With a background as Dakar Rally rider, the 2011 French Enduro champion distinguished himself in the Dakar and several international Rallies in the bike category, before turning his career as co-driver in the SSV Category.
Enrico Gaspari: “I’m really happy to return competing after almost 9 months of stop. I should be fully recovered from the injury to the D7 that I suffered from the Dakar. After the experience as a navigator in the car category, I’m really happy to return driving a Polaris Pro XP Turbo. It will be my first time in Poland and I’m really curious to visit the country. It will be my first Baja with Loic Minaudier and I really look forward to know him better. We met in Kazakhstan, and I really admire him. With his experience, he is the strong element in the crew”.
Enrico has not special target but checking how his back responds and to have fun so that he can continue to plan his racing season that includes ambitious goals.
Marco Piana, Xtremeplus Team manager and owner: “Baja Poland is a very important appointment in the calendar and an important race considered the popularity of the rally tout terrain in this country. The terrain features a mix of rocks and sand, and it can be tricky but we can count on our robust CST Apache tyres.
“Looking at the general standing, it’s a great satisfaction for the whole team to see Lina van de Mars on the Polaris Pro XP Turbo will be at the starting blocks second in the FIA championship for the T4 category. Baja Poland is the last round of the FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas so Lina and her co-driver Giulia will do their best to maintain the position. I’m confident that she can do well, considered also her experience. To support her performance, we are using Emka engine oil realized specifically for racing, reducing the temperatures and increasing the engine revs”.
The crew number 407 Van de Mars Lina - Maroni Giulia and the crew number 409 -Gaspari Enrico - Loic Minaudier will undergo the administrative checks on Thursday September 1st.
