Baja Portalegre 2019: Moto/Quad/SSV challenge revealed

ACP, Baja Portalegre's organizer just released the regulations for the motorbikes, quads and SSV (SxS). Remember that in Portugal, the SSV race under the Motorbike Federation, so the relevance of this recent released regulations is bit bigger, specially because a strong 100 plus entry list is expected just for this category.  In any case, in Baja Portalegre, specially the foreigners can chose to race on "local" SSV event or enter in the car race, under FIA T3 rules as it happens in all the other races from Baja World Cup. 

Baja Portalegre 2019 will take place from 24 to 26 of October, with the Headquarters of the race located once at Portalegre city.  Abrantes, Alter do Chão, Avis, Chamusca, Crato, Fronteira, Gavião, Monforte, Nisa, Ponte de Sor, Sousel and of course Portalegre are the municipalities chosen by the organizers to draw this year's route, offering once more one of the greatest challenges of all season.

The first two days program for the Moto, Quad and SSV categories will be very similar to the car's program, starting with the administrative and technical checks on the 24th. At the beginning of the night the participants will have their first real contact with the fans at the ceremonial start that will take place on Portalegre´s city center.  On friday the 25th the serious business will start, beginning at sunrise  with the traditional and very well know Prologue to warm up the motors, followed by the first real special stage that will start on Ponte de Sor, west of Portalegre, and bringing the participants back the host city via a 80km long route.

Saturday's program will made by just one stage, but this will be no ordinary stage, this one will be a mammoth with 350km long, a challenge loved by the locals, feared by some of the outsiders.  In very general terms, the Moto/Quad/SSV stage will be the sum of both stages of the car race, with just some connections to transform it into the largest special stage of the race.   Since the length of the stage is so big, the stage will have assistance points at each 85km for refuelling or intervention in the racing vehicles.

Baja Portalegre is still the largest motorbike and quad race in Portugal, but is shining above all the other European races and even at a global scale by presenting in the last few years what we think to be the largest entry lists in the SSV category, and 2019 shouldn't the be exception, with once again more than 100 vehicles expected.
