The race is considered one of the most important in the world, and the veteran will race with a Mitsubishi L200 Triton Sport Racing alongside Gustavo Gugelmin

One of the most important names in off-road in Brazil, Guiga Spinelli disputes this week, between October 27 and 29, the Baja Portalegre 500 Rally, one of the most prestigious races in the world. For the 36th edition held in Portugal, the Brazilian driver will race with a Mitsubishi L200 Triton Sport Racing and will have as navigator the world champion and Dakar winner Gustavo Gugelmin.

The Portuguese race marks Spinelli's return to the main rally competitions. In November 2021, Guiga competed and won the Ilha Comprida (SP) stage of the Brazilian Cross-Country Rally Championship, ensuring another achievement in his resume, which includes five Sertões titles and podiums in the Dakar.

For his participation in this race, Guiga has the support of BTG Pactual, Mitsubishi do Brasil and Fairfax Seguros. The tests with the Mitsubishi L200 Triton Sport Racing were carried out last September, and the pilot approved the car's performance, making some adjustments aiming at the participation in the Portuguese race, which will have three specials in just two days.

"I last ran the Baja Portalegre 500 in 2017, and it is a very disputed race, with big names on the grid and cars that win the main competitions in the world. I am very excited, because I will debut this Mitsubishi Triton in an international race, racing alongside Gustavo Gugelmin for the first time with the M Racing team, which has more than 30 years of tradition. The expectation is to have a race in which we can gain as much pace as possible. We'll be the only Brazilian duo in the cars, so we'll do our best to represent our country well", said Guiga.

The pilot is already in Portugal and this Wednesday he will do the shakedown of the vehicle. The next day, there will be the reconnaissance of the prologue and the promotional start. The prologue and first special will be held on Friday, while Saturday will close the race with two more specials.
