Miguel Barbosa is back to international competitions next weekend, competing in the mythical Baja Portalegre 500, with the particularity of doing it at the wheel of the Toyota Hilux T1+ with which Nasser Al-Attiyah became World Rally Raid Champion (W2RC) two days ago. This will be the first time this new generation of vehicles competes in Portugal and the eight times national champion will be one of the pilots who will have one of these machines at his disposal in this last stage of the Bajas World Cup.

"Competing in Portugal is always a great pleasure. The Baja Portalegre 500 is the great all-terrain party in Portugal. It's a mythical event with sensational tracks, thousands of spectators and the excellent organization of the Automobile Club of Portugal. To have at your disposal a fantastic machine, as this Toyota T1+ has shown to be and, moreover, the one with which Nasser Al-Attiyah has just become world champion, is without a doubt an added value. I'm betting on responding by fighting for the victory in spite of the very strong competition that we'll surely have and by putting on a show for this public which vibrates in a very intense way throughout many hours of racing. This Baja Portalegre 500 will certainly be another great show and I challenge everyone to come to Portalegre to follow this race", said the BP Ultimate Vodafone Team driver who will be navigated by Hugo Magalhães.

The 36th Baja Portalegre 500, also eligible for the FIA Bajas World Cup, starts tomorrow with the Shakedown for Miguel Barbosa, followed on Thursday by the usual technical and administrative checks. The race will have a total of 473.5km of timed kilometers spread over four selective sectors disputed over two days. In terms of sports, the Alentejo race will start on Friday, October 28th, with a prologue of 3.5km and a 70km section. On Saturday there will be two selective sectors, both with 200km of qualifying time.
