Baja TT ACP 2020: 85 Teams to compete in the first edition ever of Baja TT ACP

Everything is now ready for the start of the newly created cross-country rally race in Portugal.  ACP, the organizer of the world-famous Baja Portalegre advanced to this new adventure and Portugal now will have a competition held in the Alentejo's Atlantic coastal area offering the only type of terrain that was missing on the local championship: The sand!

BP Ultimate Baja TT ACP takes place on the sandy tracks between Santiago do Cacém and Grândola, south of Lisbon,  starting with the ceremonial start, that was held today in Vila Nova de Santo André. 
The interest aroused among teams and drivers was such that, even though in this first edition, the event is valid only for the Portuguese Cross-Country Rallies Championship for cars there are over eight dozen participating teams, including cars, motorcycles, quads and SSV.

The organizational quality recognized by the Automóvel Club de Portugal was one of the arguments that contributed to the high interest in the new Baja. The fact of being held in a region that was only used twice (Dakar 2007 and Rally Estoril Marrakech 2010), with sandy terrain, made the presence of most teams of this sport almost mandatory.

At a competitive level, the highlight is the fight for the national car championship. In this regard, Tiago Reis (Mitsubishi Racing Lancer), champion in title, arrives at the Alentejo coast in front of the classification, after having won the first round of the year. But it is necessary to count on the presence of drivers such as the former national champions, João Ramos (Toyota Hilux) and Nuno Matos (Fiat Fullback Proto), of drivers who usually fight for the best positions, such as Alejandro Martins (Mini JCW Rally) and André Amaral (Ford Ranger), and the return of the driver with more national titles in the history of the discipline in Portugal, Miguel Barbosa (Toyota Hilux). After a few years focused on the rallies, the seven times Portuguese champion of TT returns to point needles to the sport and returns with the aim of discussing the championship.
