Baja TT Dehesa de Extremadura 2021: Mário Patrão wins the first race of the FIM European Bajas Championship

The Portuguese Rally Raid Champion was in the spotlight this weekend when he won the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura, the opening round of the 2021 Bajas FIM European Championship and Spanish Baja Championship, which took place in Badajoz - Spain.

Six months after the surgery, the pilot returned to international races and victories, always supported by CRÉDITO AGRÍCOLA, in his debut year in the Spanish competition, and managed to achieve an excellent victory.

After winning the prologue, Mário Patrão finished the second and third timed sections of the second stage in third place, but in the last selective sector of the day, he managed to make a great recovery and finish the 317 km of this round in first place.

The bet for the last stage, which was held yesterday, was to manage as best as possible the advantage he had, to stay in the lead of the race. That's what happened: the 4th place in which he finished the 105.42 km of the last selective sector, just 1m30s from the first place, was enough for Mário Patrão to achieve victory, who is supported by LUSÍADAS SAÚDE.

"It was a sweaty and difficult victory. It's very important to be able to compete in these races so as not to lose the rhythm. A championship race was scheduled in Portugal precisely for this weekend, but it had to be canceled. I took the opportunity to come to Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura and I'm glad I came to Badajoz. It was a good race. We drove some sections quite fast and I can only be satisfied with this performance. The intention was to train, to bet on different races, on navigation, and to go as fast as possible. Things turned out well. On the last day, I had a good advantage and tried to manage it as best I could to avoid costly mistakes. I thank the sponsors for the opportunity to be here, without them it wouldn't be possible. The balance is very positive", says the renowned Mário Patrão, who also has the support of BAHCO and who leads the European Championship, ahead of the current Champion.
