Over 80 teams will compete in the rally in the Czarne and Borne Sulinowo communes. On June 11 and 12, the Baja Wysoka Grzęda, making its debut in the rally calendar, will surely bring plenty of excitement along the 300km-long rally route.
Master versus student
28 teams will compete for points in the FIA Central European Rally Championship. Most of them will also compete for the titles in Polish Cross-Country Rally Championship and Czech Cross-Country Rally Championship. The entry list is opened by the well-known and titled duo of Krzysztof Hołowczyc and Łukasz Kurzeja (BMW X3), who, after their success in the High Grzeda Baja Drawsko Pomorskie, lead in the general classification of the Polish Championship and are on their way to the first title of the Polish Cross-Country Rally Champions in their career.
The main rivals of the duo Holowczyc/Kurzeja will be a rally couple, Michał and Julita Małuszyński (Mini John Cooper Works Rally), who develop their passion and skills under the supervision of Holowczyc, so it will be a clash of teacher and student. Paweł Molgo, piloted by Maciej Marton (Ford F-150 Evo), returns to the rally routes in Poland. These are titled and very fast drivers, who also have newer cars than Holowczyc, so the fight for final success will be very fierce. On the rally routes in Chernin and Bornem Sulinowo we will see two more crews in the strongest T1 group.
Fight for every second
The most numerous will be again the group of T2 series vehicles, in which we will see 12 crews, 6 of which will compete in Dacia Duster Motrio Cup. The group is led by Grzegorz Szwagrzyk and Jakub Moliter (Mitsubishi Pajero), just behind them there are their main rivals, that is Piotr Sołtys and Piotr Brakowiecki (Toyota Land Cruiser) and Maciej Grabowski and Adam Binięda (Dacia Duster), who lead also in DDMC. In Drawsko Pomorskie the fight was literally for seconds and the repeat in this group, we can expect also in Czarnno and Bornem Sulinowo.
Domestic TH and T4 Nat. groups are led by leaders after the first round of the season, that is Mariusz Wiatr and Rafał Marton (BMW X6), who will face three crews and vice-leaders, is Marcin Graczyk and Kordala Artur (Can-Am Maverick), with six rivals in the group.
On the route, we will also see 12 crews in the Polish Cross-Country Car Rally Cup, with the lonely couple of Maciej and Beata Pelcow (Nissan Patrol) in group S1 and Robert Kucharczyk and Marcin Piotrowski (Mistubishi Pajero) leading in group S2 as well as Grzegorz Kołodziej and Grzegorz Urbanik (Can-Am Maverick) in group SSV.
New series, new names
Baja Poland Series gradually attracts new competitors to Baja rally, who want to try real and long special stages. We will have a chance to see 11 teams, including both well-known drivers such as the Gołka/Gołka duo (Jeep Wrangler) in the OPEN group and the Kiciński/Soroczyńska team (Dacia Duster) in the LIMITED group, and new names such as Fuchs, Lenkiewicz or Nowak in the SSV group.
Clash of teams
A total of 32 entrants competed on motorcycles and quads. Fourteen motorcyclists, led by Tomasz Wilkowicz (KTM EXC), four single-axle quads, led by Mariusz Wojtasik (Suzuki LTR), and fourteen double-axle quads, led by Marcin Talaga (Can-Am Renegade), will line up on the Baja Wysoka Grzeda route. Among motorcyclists, the fight will be between representatives of the Magicflower.pl and NAC Rally Teams and among quad riders between the Can-Am Perfect Moto Racing Team and Polaris Polska Racing Team.
On Friday, June 11, the Baja Wysoka Grzęda rally will be inaugurated with an honorary start in front of the town hall in Bornem Sulinowo and an 8-kilometer qualifying stage "Okonek". On Saturday 12 June the organizers have planned two runs of the 86-kilometre-long "Borne Sulinowo" special stage and the 60-kilometer-long "Czarne" special stage. For the competitors of RPPST, MPRB, PPRB, and Baja Poland Series the rally route will be slightly shorter. The rally will end with an awards ceremony on Saturday evening.
