The drivers are in an excellent position for the next event at the Rally TT Guadalajara, in order to lead the championship.
Avatel Racing Team has managed to conquer the podium in the Rally TT Villa de Zuera with the second place of Monica Plaza in the T2 category. In this way, and with three more rallies to go, the drivers are on the verge of becoming leaders of the general classification of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship.
The fourth round brought together the best teams of the national scene in the town of Zuera, Zaragoza, which this year extended its route and changed its name, which made the Aragonese event gain in kilometers and spectacle.
Thus, the rally team sponsored by the telecommunications company Avatel faced a tough race with a route of more than 350 kilometers through complex landscapes, which took place in just one day.
A race full of "traps
The first timed section of 132 km was held inside the San Gregorio Military Camp, a route characterized by the high number of crossroads and "traps" in it. Despite this, the rider from Cuenca and the rider from Aragon did a great job, finishing first in the series.
However, in the second stage the team had to deal with several problems when the vehicle's tire was punctured by a stone hidden under the sand. "This situation caused us to lose quite a lot of time, to which must be added the difficulties we had with the hydraulic jack to mount the wheel again," explains Monica Plaza.
In spite of this, and thanks to a very good third stage in which the team was once again able to reassemble itself to finish first in the group, the Avatel team finished the rally in second place.
The next meeting of the competition will be held in two weeks on the occasion of a new edition of the Rally TT Guadalajara, fifth meeting of the season in which the Avatel CERTT teams will once again be the main protagonists.
