CPTT 2020: Portugal's 2020 season starts with a brand new race

FPAK - Federação Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting already made public the schedule of races for the upcoming 2020 Portuguese Cross Country Rally Championship including some completely new races.

The season will start in the south of Portugal, from 7 to 9 of February with Baja TT Vindimas do Alentejo, which will be raced in the surroundings of Beja City. This is the first new race of 2020 calendar, it was to race at the end of 2019 summer, but the high risk of wildfires forced the cancelation of the event by the authorities.  Now it returns, full of improvements to be a great start of the season.

Another surprise for the 2020 season is the brand new Baja TT ACP a new race organized by Automovel Club de Portugal, the same organizer of the world-famous Baja Portalegre 500. Besides the dates - 6 to 8 of march,  there aren't yet many more details available about this race, but very likely most of the drivers and fans will be pleased with the choices of the organizer.   

Baja TT ACP also marks the start of a very busy period, with several races in a very short time.  Three weeks after ACP's race, on 28 and 29 of March will be time for the drivers to race Baja TT do Pinhal in the center of Portugal.  And only two weeks later they will have to travel to Algarve - the most southern region of the country, for racing Baja de Loulé from 9 to 11 of May.

Baja TT Wine Capital of Portugal will be the 5th round of the year and is scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 of May, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo.

After Alentejo's race, the season will stop for several months, avoiding the critic period of wildfires and all the risk of cancelation or suspension of the races.   The action will only return to the Portuguese forest and country roads on 12 and 13 of September, in Idanha-a-Nova, also in the center of Portugal but close to the border with Spain, where Baja TT Idanha-a-Nova will take place once more.

The championship will finish once more with Baja Portalegre, scheduled for 29 to 31 of November.  But the season will only come to an end with the 2020 edition of the 24 Hours Off-Road Vila de Fronteira that will join the cross-country family once more in Fronteira from 26 to 29 of November.
