Entry has started for HunGarian Baja, the Hungarian race of Cross-Country Rally World Cup series!
And what does the chief organizer, Zoltán Garamvölgyi promise us?
"That it’s going to be tough!"
Let’s add it that cross-country rally competitors love the Hungarian race just for the big challenges, so there is a huge interest towards the event. It would not be surprising, if 30-40 competitors arrive from the more and more popular side by side category. Not to talk about the world class stars of cross-country rally, who usually come every year.
"The longest ever HunGarian Baja is waiting for the field with original stages" said Zoltán Garamvölgyi as a kind of promise. "The race center is moved to Várpalota this year, where the field is warmly welcome. Our headquarter will be located at an awesome venue, in the Thury Castle. The official opening ceremony will be held by the main entrance of the castle with a beautiful background, and for the selection of the starting number even the Lord of the Castle will join us. The main square in front of the Thury Castle will be closed for the race, since the parc fermé will be set there. The fans will have the chance to see the top machines of the World Cup Series and to meet the riders, drivers and co-drivers closely in the heart of the city. Superspecial stage will start by 200 meters from the border of the city on Friday afternoon, on Saturday there will be two exciting 210-km stages, and on Sunday two more 82-km stages. Two-third of the stages are set out at the usual shooting range, and the third one goes through the popular forest roads of Bakonyerdő. The battle will be staged on a picturesque and complex area. I am glad that we have again developed, and we can prepare for the biggest ever HunGarian Baja. It will be cool and a tough challenge, too."
Service park will be constructed at the area next to the big Tesco of Várpalota, where there is proper infrastructure for the competitors, while the technical scrutineering will be held at Suzuki Mészáros car saloon. Chief organizer, Zoltán Garamvölgyi emphasized how positive attitude the city had towards the race. The Mayor, Mrs. Márta Campanari-Talabér gives all her help, Vice Major Mr. Csaba Katona acts in the operative issues, while Mr. György Mária, cross-country rally bike rider has been solicitous about the race from the very first moment. Although the venue and the headquarter are new now, the organizers are very grateful for the previous host, the city of Veszprém and Mr. Péter Ovádi, who had done and still do a lot for the success of the Hungarian race of the World Cup series, the HunGarian Baja.
