Hungarian Baja 2022: 93 participants at the HunGarian Baja!

4 continents, 22 countries, 93 starters (22 motorbikes, 12 quads, 59 car pairs) – these are the statistics for this year’s HunGarian Baja, which starts next Friday. Interestingly, there will also be 20 women among the competitors – showing that off-road racing is becoming increasingly popular with the weaker sex.

Konrad Dabrowski (whose father has also competed in the Hungarian World Cup on several occasions), Kurt Burroughs from Great Britain, and Joanna Modrzewska and Pol Mirjam from the ladies’ team. Hungarian colours will be represented again this year by Richárd Hodola in the most prestigious field. In the quads’ field, Saudi Arabia’s Hani Alnoumesi will be up against Kevin Giroud Jr. and Slovakia’s Juraj Varga.

The entry list for the Várpalota-based event also includes European Cup points leader Joao Ferreira (Mini), Michal Maluszynski (Mini), who is two points behind him in the overall standings, and Portugal’s Pedro Manuel Dias Da Silva (VW Amarok), who is in third place. The field also includes an old acquaintance in Miroslav Zapletal, a veteran Dakar driver who has previously triumphed in the HunGarian Baja.

The Hungarian team will be represented by Pál Lónyai and Nikolett Szőke (Porsche Macan) and Kornél Lukács and Márk Mesterházi (Toyota Hilux).

The good news for fans is that they can follow the stages of the race livestreamed – and Sport TV will also provide a summary of the events of each stage.
