Italian Baja 2021: Holowcyz and Seaidan among the participants of the 2021 Italian Baja

 
The Pole Krzysztof Holowczyc, freshly winner of the Hungarian Baja with a Mini John Cooper Works Rally, is ready to come back in Pordenone where he won in 2010 and where he should face the challenger Yasir Seaidan, who now leads the FIA World Cup after seizing the third position in Hungary.

Very good news for the Italian Baja 2021 (9 th-11th September), ready to interrupt the long abstinence suffered by the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas, caused by the pandemic. Four weeks before the start, with a calendar proposing the Baja Poland on the last weekend of August, two absolute bigs already confirm their entries: the Pole Krzysztof Holowczyc, freshly winner of the Hungarian Baja and the Saudi Yasir Seaidan, now leading the World Cup ranking after seizing the third position in the Hungarian challenge, both of them driving a Mini John Cooper Works Rally. 

Holowczyc, who got excellent results in the past, including a European title, won the Italian Baja in 2010 with a Nissan navigated by the Belgian Jean Marc Fortin, nowadays responsible of the Overdrive Team and rival of the Mini with the Toyota Hilux. There are therefore all ingredients to make special his return in Pordenone, in a challenge with headquarters located by the Freight Village Wholesale Centre and a race track along the Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento riverbeds, which seems to be engaging and less conditioned by fords thanks to a different route chosen inside floodplains’ areas. In the meanwhile, the Italian Championship offered two surprises.

The Italian Cross Country is led by Sergio Galletti (Toyota Hilux Overdrive) and the everlasting champion in charge Lorenzo Codecà (Suzuki New Grand Vitara), this time obliged to chase his challenger. Among Side by Side the leader is Elvis Borsoi (Can Am Maverick) with a wide gap ahead on Alessandro Tinaburri and Valentino Rocco (Quaddy Yamaha).The double coefficient of the Italian Baja could anyway shuffle the deck.
