Italian Baja 2022: Dust public enemy in longest day

Saturday, the longest day of the 2022 Italian Baja, featured two specials, with SS2 being 112km long and SS3 115km. The track was tricky and the battle was tough in all classifications and categories, the leaders will need to remain focused tomorrow if they want to seal the victory.

T3 World Cup

Erik Van Loon was the fastest on SS2, but in the afternoon, Fernando Alvarez outperformed the Dutch driver and won SS3. In the overall, Van Loon tops the classification, with reigning World Cup champion Dania Akeel in second place and 18 year old Pau Navarro on the lowest step of the virtual podium in his first World Cup outing.

T3 European Cup

Reigning European Cup winner and current leader Santi Navarro showed his pace again, winning both of today's specials. This obviously means that he already has a solid lead in the overall classification, with a seven minute gap to Filipe Nascimento, while Bernd Hoffmann is third.

T4 World Cup

Cristiano de Sousa surprised everyone with winning both specials and thus taking the lead overall, more than three minutes over Tomasz Bialkowski and Kees Koolen.

T4 European Cup

Amerigo Ventura had a good day in his home rally, winning both specials and leading overall, with Lina van de Mars in second position.
