Italian Baja 2022: Mission accomplished for the CST Polaris Xtremeplus Team

“I’m really happy to be at the finish line of the Italian Baja in Pordenone”,

said a satisfied Lina Van de Mars at the arrival of the final day of racing. Together with Giulia Maroni as co-driver, today the German racer put up a solid performance that allowed her to recover important positions. Despite the issues of the second day, they finished 5th in the T4 category, 23rd overall. With this result Lina Van de Mars and Giulia Maroni are 2nd in the FIA European Bajas Championship.
 
Demanding and challenging as the Baja Italy can be, the CST Polaris Xtremplus team tackled the rocky paths, the narrow twisty roads, the river beds, the stones and the bumps with more experience without any major problems.
 
“What a race weekend! I really like the Italian Baja: the stages are super cool, and I’m always impressed by what the Polaris and the CST tyres can do in such extreme conditions. I like the mix of rocks, sand, stones, and mud here. You can never get bored.
Today we had to maintain the concentration because there was a lot of actions around.
We had no issues, and we could focus on the challenges that this type of terrain offers at every corner. It is a great feeling to finish. Looking back, in fact, I had a sort of unfinished business with this race because last year I was second when I flipped 20 meters before the finish line, so my main goal this time was first of all to finish”, said Lina Van de Mars. “It’ my first podium at the Italian Baja. It was a good fun, and I am happy to score points for the European Championship.  I really look forward to the next race, the Hungarian Baja”.
 
“Today we did a good job, and I really enjoyed the stage. Regarding the terrain, it was the same itinerary of yesterday, but on the other direction, so we tackled again the technical parts, the tricky river beds and the stony parts. The CST Apache tyres did an excellent job and now we look forward to the Hungarian Baja”,

said Giulia Maroni.

“After the prologue and two very intense days of racing, they finished 5th in their category, 23rd overall and with a solid second place in the Fia European Bajas Championship. Both Lina and Giulia were focus, and determined. Today they did an important step forward. Next appointment is the Hungarian Baja”.
