The Avatel Racing Team achieves a third place with a bittersweet taste in the T2 category with the last two races to go
Mónica Plaza and David Nadal achieved a third place in the T2 category in the fifth round of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship, held this past weekend in Guadalajara.
For the second consecutive season, the small town of Cifuentes (Guadalajara) hosted the teams of the CERTT Avatel, which for this edition held the prologue on Friday and three super special stages on Saturday.
The event held this weekend allows the Avatel Racing Team to continue scoring points in the absence of the last two races of the season. Even so, the driver from Cuenca and her co-driver finished the course with a bittersweet feeling.
"In the first stage we had many setbacks, mainly with the GPS overtaking system, as well as with a car that was broken and blocked the road", explains Mónica Plaza.
However, in the following sections "we were able to enjoy more, the difficulties of the race were diluted and Monica was able to take more advantage of the level of piloting," adds David Nadal.
In spite of everything, and even having managed to make the podium, the race "was not what we expected". "We saw in the previous races that we could try to win, but this time it was not possible. It is a very narrow type of course and with very slow areas, despite the fact that we got everything we could out of our car, it was not enough," says the pilot from Cuenca.
TT Cuenca Rally
The next and penultimate round will take place in the driver's hometown, Monica Plaza. Thus, the Rally TT Cuenca will be held on October 14 and 15 and will have a totally new route and with an important novelty in the team. The pilots will do their best to achieve a result that will bring them closer to their goal.
