ADDC 2021: Another positive day for the two CST Xtremeplus crews at the Tunisia Desert Challenge

Small dunes, sandy paths and technical navigation was on the menu of the fourth stage of the Tunisia Desert Challenge. A loop of 287 km around the oasis of Ksar Ghilane challenged the competitors with all kind of tracks: lots of turns and twists but also fast tracks. Many sections featured small dunes and sandy stretches, that required a quick adaptation.

“It was a very fast stage where he kept a high average speed. We eventually finished 7th at only 8 minutes from the top”, stated Checco Tonetti. “Alberto (Bertoldi), my co-driver, did a very good job solving some tricky notes that made the navigation quiet challenging. The stage was fast but required a lot of concentration. Tomorrow we expect a long stage with a lot of dunes and technical navigation so we aim at recovering some positions because the Polaris is very fast on the dunes and we can also make the difference”.    

“The stage started with a tricky sandy and winding tracks along camel grass that required a lot of attention in riding and in navigating”, stated Andrea Tronconi, “This fortunately was a part of the timed section, because today we could also enjoy the beauty of the vast open landscapes. Navigation challenges where in store where we less expected them, but all in all it was a very positive day. We finished 9th and we learned a lot”.
