Bruno Varela (SSV) and Tunico Maciel (Motos) repeat previous day victory. Wescley Dutra got his first stage win and recovers time.
Yesterday's leg of the Sertões rally - third of this year's edition, took the participants to travel 727km from Barra do Garças to São Miguel do Araguaia. The Special Stage of this third leg had 420km fast kilometers, that make the vehicles fly across the Brazilian landscape.
On the cars it was the first time for Lucas Moraes/Kaique Bentivoglio (Ford Ranger X Rally) to conquer their first stage victory in the 2019 Sertões Rally, taking 3h21m14s to go from start to finish. Despite the long stage, the very fast pace of front group didn't let anyone rest and the fight was so intense that the difference from 1st to 2nd was only "one nose", because Guilhereme Spinelli(L200 Triton Sport Racing) finished only 5 seconds behind the Moraes. Still in the "missile category", in third place finished Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti, 1m43s after the stage winner.
"I'm very happy for my first stage victory on the Sertões Rally. One 403km long special decided by only 5 seconds show how balanced the race is this year. We can't make any errors and pilot and co-pilots my be in perfect coordination." said Moraes after the stage
The SSV categories continues to be led by the Varela family, with Bruno Varela repeating a stage victory, but by slim margin of only 9 seconds over Paulo Rovaris, something that after 400 racing kilometers is almost like zero. Almost 2 minutes behind finished Denisio do Nascimento. The "All Can-Am" podium is actually made by Bruno Varela in 1st place, Denisio do Nascimento in 2nd and Gabriel Varela in 3rd.
In the motorbikes Tunico Maciel (Honda) made is overall lead a bit stronger after another stage win. Tulio Malta (Yamaha) finished second only 1m32s after the leader and Gregório Caselani finished third. Overall Maciel keeps is 1st place overall and has now a more confortable lead over Caselani (2nd) and Jean Azevedo (3rd).
Finally in the quad category it looks like Marcelo Medeiros entered in "touring mode", since his huge lead of almost 1h30m allows him to do so, riding safe and already looking forward to get to the finish line. This gave the chance for the first stage victory of Wescley Dutra, finishing 7 minutes ahead of Medeiros, but with no effect on the overall classification. Milton Martens finished 3rd. Like in the Motos where only Hondas are in the podium and in the SSV where is Can-Am to dominate, in the Quad category is Yamaha who shines, with all three riders with using quads from the Japanese brand.
