The 7th Jalapão/Sertões Series Rally marks the first stage of the Brazilian Cross Country Rally Championship, held this week from June 15 to 19, in the state of Bahia and Tocantins, passing through Jalapão. The fourth and last stage, held this Saturday, June 19, had an itinerary of pure adrenaline in 374 kilometers of timed sections and displacements for cars, motorcycles, quadricycles, and UTVs.
The Jalapão/Sertões Series Rally lived up to its expectations with a highly competitive grid formed by the main names in the national sport. The arrival and the awards ceremony took place in Vila Panambí, in Formosa do Rio Preto, Bahia.
It was not easy at all! The heat and the dense sand since the start kept the adrenaline high in another challenging stage of the competition in the Jalapão desert. The physical resistance and interaction of the competitors and the control of their vehicles were demanded to the maximum during all of the time. Redoubled efforts and a lot of technique were required from the competitors, who had to drive with all their skills in some parts of the established route.
The highlight of the 2021 edition was rookie Bruno Pelizari (#32), with a Honda CRF 450RX. The pilot from Palmas (TO) won the overall Motorcycle title with an accumulated time of 11h11min48s7, having won the first stage in his Moto 3 category and secured third place overall, as well as second place in the third and fourth stages. The second place on the bikes was the Frenchman, living in Indaiatuba (SP), Adrien Metge (#04/Yamaha) - champion of 2020 - with victory in the last three stages, with a difference of 02min25s to the first place. Third on the podium was Júlio Cesar Zavatti (#06/Honda).
"I'm surprised with the title in my first cross-country race and it's hard to explain the happiness and satisfaction I'm feeling,"
said an emotional Bruno Pelizari, the driver from Dianópolis (TO), who thanked the team for their joint effort.
The team from São Paulo, Marcos Baumgart and Kleber Cincea (#303/Prototype T1), Ford Ranger X-Rally of the X Rally Team, was the fastest in the Car category, accumulating the four stages of the competition that crossed the Jalapão and became the champion, with a time of 11h05min34s5. In the sequence were teammates Adroaldo Weisheimer and Fred Budtikevitz, (#334/Prototype T1) and, in third, Vilson Thomas/Rafael Pereira (#341/Pro Brasil, Mitsubishi Triton RS, from Mainha Racing.
Marcos Baumgart has been in the Jalapão Rally four years ago on motorcycles and won in the Marathon category, then two years ago he won the title in Cars, and now he has managed to achieve another victory.
"This race was worthy of a true cross-country root, it surprised me a lot. We understood the challenges and managed to overcome them with a positive balance. I'm very happy! Those who didn't come should come next time", he celebrates.
Among the UTVs, Fabio Ruediger and Eduardo Bampi (#115/T2), Can-Am Maverick X3, ensured the unprecedented title after the third position in the last stage.
"We are very happy with the goal accomplished and the evolution we had every day. The car was balanced, the pilot and navigator team synchronized, and we had a very good rhythm, preserving the equipment. This conquest encourages us for the next races, like the Sertões", says the pilot from Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA).
The champion in the Quadricycle category was Marcelo Medeiros (#39) from Maranhão, owner of a Yamaha 700 Raptor, Taguatur Racing team.
"The organization managed unpublished stretches and a perfect race again. For us it was important training for the team and for the quad as preparation for the Sertões in August," concluded the pilot from São Luís.
The 2021 edition broke an entry record with 99 vehicles, 169 competitors, among cars, motorcycles, quadricycles, and UTVs. A total of 1338.99 kilometers will be covered in four days of competitions, with disputes in the states of Bahia and Tocantins.
The Rally Jalapão / Sertões Series is a realization of Arena Promoções and Events and Dunas Race, sponsored by C6 Bank, Can-Am, CBMM, Honda, Motul, and Mitsubishi Motors, and supported by the City Hall of Luís Eduardo Magalhães and the City Hall of São Félix do Tocantins. The supervision is from the CBM - Brazilian Confederation of Motorcycling and CBA - Brazilian Confederation of Automobilism.
