Rally Jalapão 2020: José H. Rodrigues, Adrien Metge and Bruno Varela are the winners

After three stages, the 6th Jalapão Rally ended last Saturday, 29th with a beautiful dispute in the final stage, west of Bahia. There were approximately 1,200 kilometers of total distance on roads and trails on private farms, with 718 kilometers of special stages divided into four sectors.

The sun and heat were also present in the region and there was no respite from the participants. 117 vehicles, 22 cars, 42 motorcycles and quats and 53 UTVs (SSV) were registered. On the track, the pilots and navigators worked to seek victory, which for some competitors would have been even more important, given the dispute for titles.

Overall among the motorbikes, a turnaround changed the fate of the race, when Adrien Metge (Yamaha - WR 450F) overcame Gregório Caselani (Honda CRF 450RX) on the last day of disputes that featured 333 kilometers, 163 kilometers of which was timed. Adrien won with time of 08:04min18, also taking the title of the competition in the MT1 category. Yamaha teammate Ricardo Martins took third place on the podium.

“For us, it was a very cool race, very well organized, special technical, tiring, but in which we managed to make a good rally, little by little we sought an advantage that in the end would guarantee us victory. In short, we are very happy with this result ”, stressed Metge.

In the UTV (SSV) category, the champions were Bruno Varela and Gustavo Bortolanza (Can-Am). They concluded the race with three consecutive victories and added up to the accumulated 8h08min15s, being 5min40s ahead of Reinaldo and Gugelmin, the runners-up.

“This was a very difficult race, we managed to put into practice what we had in mind for the Jalapão Rally. Gradually we were able to find time and we decided that the goal was to finish with all the vehicles of the team well and win the title, which was within our reach ”, highlighted Bruno Varela.

Double for Giaffone Racing onboard the team's V8 Buggys, José Hélio Rodrigues / Weidner Moreira and Marcelo Gastaldi / Lourival Roldan, first and second places on the podium in the Cars category. José Hélio / Weidner counted three consecutive victories and each day opened the advantage for the other competitors, completed with the time of 07h42min11, to 22min37 of the second place. In third place was Henrique Gutierrez / Fábio Zeller (Ford Ranger V8 T1 FIA).

“We finished a test successfully. A season that did not start well, we knew there would be strong competition in the category, but we managed to evolve throughout the challenge, reaching the title of Rally Jalapão ”, said José Hélio.

Pedro Henrique Teixeira (Polaris Scrambler 850) took the title on quads.
